Remnant Opposition, Faithful God
Kevin continued his series on Nehemiah’s story, focusing on the opposition faced during Jerusalem’s wall reconstruction. He explained that while practical reasons like lack of resources and opposition from powerful individuals like Sanballat and Tobiah hindered rebuilding efforts, there was also a spiritual dimension involving Satan’s opposition to God’s people. Kevin outlined how fear, anger, and rage led Sanballat to belittle, mischaracterize, and exaggerate the Jews’ efforts, using tactics similar to today’s public discourse. He emphasized the importance of recognizing when spiritual opposition is at work and encouraged practicing prayer while remaining faithful and courageous in the face of opposition. The sermon concluded with a discussion of communion as a reminder of God’s covenant love and the encouragement it provides to continue being faithful followers despite opposition.
