When Life Doesn’t Make Sense

Preacher:
Passage: Job 1:6-12
Service Type:

This Sunday, we begin a series focusing on, “What to do when life doesn’t make sense.” How do we make sense of pain, tragedy, brokenness, heartache, and defeat?

For centuries, people have looked to Job as an example of faithfulness and perseverance when life doesn’t make sense. Job gets hammered by Satan. His sons and daughters die. All his possessions get wiped out. The only thing that remains in his wife, and that was not a blessing. She’s the one that says, “Curse God and die!” Great asset there.

Over the next several weeks, we will look at Job’s story. This Sunday, we will consider Job’s statement: “The Lord has given; the Lord has taken; bless the Lord’s name” (Job 1:21).
