God Looks Like Jesus: Seeing God
Kevin delivered a scripture reading from John 20:19-31, focusing on Jesus’ appearance to the disciples and Thomas’s doubt, followed by a reflection on faith and community. He discussed the Artemis II spaceflight and compared it to Yuri Gagarin’s historic 1961 space mission, then explored C.S. Lewis’s essay “The Seeing Eye” which responded to Soviet anti-religion propaganda. Kevin explained how God wrote himself into human history through Jesus, comparing this to author Dorothy Sayers writing herself into her own stories as a character. He emphasized that community and the witness of others expand our understanding of God, using Paul’s prayer in Ephesians to illustrate how we perceive God’s love more fully through shared faith. Kevin concluded by highlighting Jesus’s message that the only work required of humanity is to believe in Him, trusting in Him moment by moment, and invited reflection on who people are and who God is helping them become in their life stories.
