This is week 5 of our summer worship series, “The Character of God.” We are focusing on what love is and isn’t as Paul’s expresses it in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. This Sunday’s focus is on not being rude. Kevin explained how love’s commandment to “not be rude or dishonor” challenges the prevailing hierarchal, king of the hill game society wants to place. Christ’s death on the cross created a new reality where everyone’s worth comes from their connection to God rather than their role or status in the world. Kevin challenged the congregation to recognize ways they might unwittingly dishonor others through judgmental thinking and to trust that God’s love for them is never rude or dishonoring, encouraging them to experience intimacy with Jesus through looking into his loving eyes without shame.
